WHEN YOU FEEL PAIN, MOST OF THE TIME IT'S FROM YOUR MUSCLES

When you get an injury, one of the first physiological responses is for your nervous system to send signals to your body to protect itself from further injury.

The first signals come from nerves within muscles, tendons, joints, and ligaments. These nerves are called mechanoreceptors. Mechanoreceptors detect information coming into the body from the outside world, then direct a muscle to relax either to prevent further injury or to contract, also to prevent further injury.

When my muscle relaxes, it is less susceptible to tearing. When the muscle tightens, it supports and stabilizes an area of injury adjacent to it.

But here is where things get interesting. Sometimes, when the muscle contracts, it stays contracted for longer than normal. It’s at this point that you have chronic tightness. When chronic muscle tightness lasts days or weeks (if not longer), the tightness can turn into pain.

The good thing is, with this type of “injury,” it’s usually easy to fix.

We do that using myofascial therapy, Active Release Therapy, stretching, trigger point therapy, Hypervolt vibration gun therapy, and chiropractic joint adjustments. In as few as four or five visits, we can — in most cases — get you back to 80-100%. It’s at that point where education comes in. We teach you how to take care of yourself at home using foam rollers and massage balls.

In most cases, muscle and tendon problems are easy to resolve quickly. You’ve just got to be in the right hands.

We’ve got the right hands.

Hope to see you soon.
